elegy

Oh Romeo you guinea pig,
as I would walk by you every morning
hereing your weeping cry's for spinach,
you would look at me with those drupe eyes,
as if you wanted to go with me to school every morning and spend your day with me.
The way you hit your family,
from when you passed away,
the way your family shed tears for nights and days and for weeks,
hooping that you would come back some how,
the love that they had for you witch now is gone.
They shall never replace you,
and keep a missing part in there life and family that will never be filled.

Elegy Fot Tibullus

Ovid starts out by being sad but as the story continues it becomes more sad. I think that this poem is basically of the grief of the gods.Ovid does a very good on showing this by cam parring the Roman goddess Venus on how Tibullus death effects her.He writes “No less was Venus stunned by her Tibullus’ death,”(15). Witch shows how Gods also can feel sorrow and sadness.

Elegy for Tibullus

"Elegy for Tibulus" is an elegy written by Ovid for Tibulus. He wrote this to express their sorrow because not only are Tubules' friends sad but the gods are equally sad. For example Ovid says that the pain felt for Tubules' death is equal to the pain felt by venus when "the fierce boar smote her lover's thigh." (line 15) However, this elegy goes from grief to condolence. I know this because at the end, Ovid states, "May your bones find repose within their sheltering urn, and may earth no lie heavy on your ashes." (67-68) THis can be consider condolence because he is basically saying that everyone his sad yet life will go on and he will be missed.

Elegies Blog Post!!!! Nat

This elegies is an example is grief to more grief. I can prove this by this quote. "If Memnon's mother mourned, Achilles's mother Mourned." (line 1). Then it goes to "May your bones find repose within within their sheltering urn." (line 68) This proves my point because he is going into depth with the second quote then the first.

I believe Ovid's "Elegy for Tibullus" goes from Grief---> Consolation.  The grief expressed is in large connected to the inhuman feelings possessed by the God's as well.  He is trying to show the misery we as humans must endure as we mourn our losses is leveled with the Gods.  A loss is a loss is a loss... (;  He does this through comparisons and witty placements of lost friends.  For example, "No less was Venus stunned by her Tibullus's death than when the fierce boar smote her lover's thing" (15–16).  Venus lost her son and her past lover and Ovid lost...well, I'm going to say friend with benefits because it sounds like something was going on there.  In the beginning it was so in-your-face with the elaborate details of their losses just hitting you again and again and again that it was just waiting for you to be on the same page of them in their stage of mental funk (depression), middle was more connections to again, make you connect with him whether or not you honestly want to, and the middle it was that time of letting go and realizing that, as cliche as it is, although they're gone pieces of them still remain.  That death is really sort of more suckish and inconvenient than anything because they never really leave.  You just can't have tea parties and yell at Sparta anymore.

Ovid's Elegy

This elegy goes from grief to more grief just like Michael Collier's elegy. He talks about mourning for Achilles and Agamemnon and then talks about the suffering in Troy. He is in so much grief he almost does not believe in the gods. It goes into detail about what happened to them after they died which means he wants to go into more grief. " If Memnon's mother mourned, Achilles's mother mourned, and our sad fates can touch great goddesses, then weep, and loose your hair in grief you never earned." (Elegy for Tibullus by Ovid)
