Elegy for Tibullus

"Elegy for Tibulus" is an elegy written by Ovid for Tibulus. He wrote this to express their sorrow because not only are Tubules' friends sad but the gods are equally sad. For example Ovid says that the pain felt for Tubules' death is equal to the pain felt by venus when "the fierce boar smote her lover's thigh." (line 15) However, this elegy goes from grief to condolence. I know this because at the end, Ovid states, "May your bones find repose within their sheltering urn, and may earth no lie heavy on your ashes." (67-68) THis can be consider condolence because he is basically saying that everyone his sad yet life will go on and he will be missed.
